CLEVELAND, Ohio – Authorities flagged dishonesty issues during the hiring process of a Cuyahoga County sheriff’s deputy who led two chases that ended in the deaths of innocent bystanders, records show.

In one instance, the officer admitted lying to a sheriff’s detective about taking a job with a small department, according to the records.

The questions raised in a 250-page file of Deputy Kasey Loudermilk come less than a week after he chased a driver who slammed into a car driven by Sharday Elder, a 37-year-old mother who died at Superior Avenue and Addison Road in Cleveland.

Five months earlier, Loudermilk pursued another suspect, whose car hit a Range Rover so hard that it burst into flames, killing the driver, Tamya Westmoreland, 48.
