MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Change may be coming to public transportation in Mobile.
City leaders want a new company to manage the city's bus network.
"This is a bit of a win-win for the city, but also for the people who use the public transportation," Deputy Chief of Staff with the City of Mobile Joe Snowden said.
The City of Mobile has proposed a five-year agreement with a transportation network called Via to oversee day-to-day operations.
Via would replace First Transit, which has managed WAVE Transit since 2018.
Earlier this year, bus drivers in Mobile walked off the job in protest of First Transit, saying they felt disrespected by the management company.
