SPOKANE, Wash. – Local vendors, like Al's Bakery, are facing economic challenges as they participate in end-of-summer events such as Pig Out in the Park.
For Al's Bakery, these events, along with the Spokane County Fair, are crucial for their annual profits. The husband-and-wife team behind the bakery emphasize the importance of attending.
Aaron Porter, co-owner of Al's Bakery, described the difficulties they face.
"There are barriers when it comes to coming here. I work full time. This isn't my main job, but this is what my wife does," Porter said.
Porter explained that taking time off work and arranging childcare are significant hurdles.
"The biggest barrier for us is getting time to come down here and do it and find someone to watch our kids for us while we do it as well," Porter s
