AINA HAINA, Hawaii (Island News) – One home collapsed and another was damaged in an early Thursday morning fire in Aina Haina.

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) reported that a home on Lawelawe Street was engulfed in flames at 4:40 a.m. on August 28.

The home later came crumbling down and the next door home also suffered some damage, according to HFD.

One resident, who lives nearby, told Island News that they could smell smoke from one ridge over.

At least 9 crews were on scene battling the blaze.

The fire at the second home was brought under control at 5:13 a.m. and fully extinguished at 8:11 a.m.

The fire for the primary home was brought under control at 5:26 a.m. and fully extinguished at 8:48 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
