BOSTON -- The Pirates’ bats finally broke through against the Red Sox bullpen Friday, propelling them to a 4-2 comeback win at Fenway Park.

Red Sox rookie Payton Tolle threw 5 1/3 strong innings in his Major League debut, taking a one-hitter into the sixth. He was chased after Nick Gonzales and Bryan Reynolds picked up back-to-back singles, followed by a Tommy Pham game-tying double off Greg Weissert. Andrew McCutchen gave the Pirates the lead immediately after on a double of his own.

Paul Skenes improved his record to .500 (9-9) since May 1 by tossing six innings of two-run ball. That first run was unearned, a product of an Isiah Kiner-Falefa throwing error in the fourth inning, with the second being a Roman Anthony solo shot to open the fifth.
