(WJW) - In a powerful display of solidarity, members of the Tusky Valley football team marched onto the field at Coshocton one week after their teammate, 15-year-old freshman Mayson White, was paralyzed in a collision during his first varsity game.

His brother, Trojan senior Jesse White, carried Mayson's #19 jersey.

Mayson's mother said doctors took her son off a ventilator on Friday. He spoke for the first time in a week and said he wanted his brother to play Friday night. He also hoped his Trojans would bring home a victory.

"He does not blame the sport. He wants his brother to continue to play football. He's a sports kid," his mom, Amanda White, said.
