MADISON, CT. (WFSB) - Labor Day weekend is here and so is the travel rush. It’s expected to be one of the busiest.

At Hammonassett State Park, many are spending the holiday weekend by taking advantage of the campground and the beach.

“It definitely ramps up on Labor Day weekend everybody’s coming out here,” said Jenna Roberts, Wolcott.

Breaking out the camping gear and spending days at the beach is a tradition for her and her family that dates back more than 30 years. They set up their camper at Hammonassett for three weeks.

“We come out here for family time and we like to go to the beach and eat all the good food around here and just have fun,” she continued.
