CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - As summer winds down in Charlotte Metro, Animal Care and Control just came out of crisis mode because nearly all of their kennels were full.

“We only had two dog kennels open that was in the afternoon. Two kennels open basically means we have no room, which gets us to have to make euthanasia decisions,” said Communications & Outreach Manager Melissa Knicely.

The facility has about 200 kennels. They temporarily waived adoption fees recently and got dozens of pups into homes. They now have 31 kennels free. Last week they were able to get out of crisis mode.

“We never know what the next day, next hour, will bring because we could quickly fill back up again,” Knicely said.

While they are out of crisis mode, they are still in need of adoptions.
