LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - To welcome students back to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s campus this fall, the Lied Center put on an outdoor concert on Friday with food, bouncy houses and lots of music, all for free.

Known as the Big Red Lied Experience , the annual street festival has been going on for about a decade and draws between 750 to 1,500 people.

Bill Stephen, the Lied’s executive director, said part of the reason they put on the event each year is to draw more students to the music and arts programs on campus.

“This is all about just making the world a better place,” Stephen said. “Providing students an artistic experience, have fun, have a great kickoff to the year and hopefully become lifelong lovers of the arts.”
