KINGSTON — Already down a score early in the first quarter, the Wyoming Valley West Spartans fumbled the snap on a punt deep in it’s own territory.

The Scranton Knights pounced on the turnover and one play later Scranton’s Reece Whitman bruised his way in for a hard-fought touchdown from 15 yards out, setting the Knights ahead by two scores just three minutes into the game.

Unfortunately for the home team, the troublesome beginning proved the blueprint to a sequence of events the Spartans would find insurmountable.

Special teams woes put the Spartans in a deep hole early which Scranton made sure there would be no fighting out of as the Knights left no doubt about it in a 45-7 victory Friday night at Spartan Stadium.
