KILGORE, Texas (KETK)-- Two East Texas heavyweights opened up their seasons against each other this Friday, with the Carthage Bulldogs defeating Kilgore to earn their first win of the season.

FINAL SCORE: Carthage 21- Kilgore 10

Carthage is coming off a championship-winning 2024 season, where they clinched their tenth title in program history, while Kilgore was defeated by the Celina Bobcats in the 4A-D1 State Championship last December.

Kilgore will face off against Whitehouse next Friday for their second game of the season, while Carthage's next game will be on Sept.12 at home against Liberty-Eylau.
