CONCORD TWP. — When Garnet Valley and Haverford High hooked up for a Central League tilt on Friday night, it felt a little … early.

Two teams with high hopes for this season and strong running attacks butted heads in game that felt like it should have been played in colder weather with higher stakes.

Such is life in the early part of the Central League season. And on this night, Haverford was able to outlast Garnet Valley, 22-7.

“I’m proud of these kids,” Fords coach Luke Dougherty said. “We lost one Central League game last year and it was to (Garnet Valley), so we’ve had this one circled all year. I’m not happy with some of the sloppiness, but Garnet Valley did a great job, especially on the goal line stand down there. We were a little lazy on some plays. We got gassed
