A 64-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle in Placentia Friday.

Officers responded to the 200 block of East Orangethorpe Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. to reports regarding a collision involving a bicyclist, according to the Placentia Police Department.

The bicyclist was lying in the roadway and was immediately rendered aid until the arrival of medical first responders, who continued life-saving measures such as CPR before taking the man to a hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers’ investigation, police said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by detectives.
