Hale was in need of a second-half spark Friday night and Elijah Daniels responded for the Rangers.

Daniels' 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown helped stem a second-half comeback attempt by host Webster and Hale went on to a 55-14 victory in non-district action in the teams’ season opener at Marshall Milton Stadium.

The Class 2AI Warriors had just scored a touchdown to close within 20-8 late in the third period when the elusive Daniels turned the tide back in favor of the Class 5A Rangers with an electrifying play.

On Webster’s ensuing kickoff following its touchdown, Daniels fielded the ball at his own 20-yard line that had ricocheted to him off a teammate.

The Hale sophomore then veered to his left and found a wall of blockers to escort him on his race to paydirt.
