SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — The Damien football team earned one of the biggest regular-season wins in program history on Friday night in stunning fashion.

After falling behind early in the first half and then again late in the second half, the Spartans rallied back to defeat JSerra 34-31 on the road.

JSerra is a Trinity League team that went 6-5 and participated in the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs last season. They beat Damien in the regular season last year, 49-21.

Damien quarterback Isaiah Arriaza accounted for each of the Spartans’ three first-half touchdowns and had over 250 total yards at the half. He finished with 410 passing yards and 63 rushing yards with 4 total touchdowns.
