KINGSFORD – Both the Kingsford Flivvers and Iron Mountain Mountaineers girls tennis teams entered the 2025 season with a bevy of new players. So, a significant portion of their early-season work has been focused on fitting the right players into the right spots and then building some match experience and confidence.
The two squads met for the first time Thursday at the Kingsford High School tennis courts to test their progress and the Flivvers won the duel 6-2.
The Flivvers took three of the four singles matches and three of the four doubles matches.
“We have a young lineup this year, losing nine varsity placements from last year’s seniors,” Kingsford coach Tracy Rutter said. “We are working through lineup changes, and we are seeing improvements with each match.”
