Temecula schools Superintendent Gary Woods is set to retire at the end of December, two years after taking on the role.

Woods announced his retirement, effective Dec. 31, to the school board during closed session Tuesday, Aug. 26, according to a Wednesday, Aug. 27, email to Temecula Valley Unified School District employees sent by the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent Lena Anicobar.

Neither Woods nor a district spokesperson could be reached for comment as of Friday afternoon, Aug. 29.

“In the meantime, Dr. Woods has assured us that he plans to keep working with his usual energy and enthusiasm right up until his last day,” the email states. “We are excited to spend the next few months celebrating his leadership, his commitment, and the positive impact he has made on TVUSD.”
