Iappreciate that many Ocean City and Worcester County residents feel their opinions weren’t taken into account as offshore wind programs were developed ( “Republicans hail Trump’s halt to Ocean City wind farm; Dems call it ‘shortsighted,'” Aug. 27).
But instead of whining, can they offer alternatives? Would they prefer offshore oil derricks? A coal-burning power plant in Snow Hill?
Many say that wind power is unreliable. But I’m reading that offshore wind is quite reliable. When isn’t there wind at the beach? And the improvement in battery storage allows for capturing excess wind energy during periods of high production and releasing it when needed or when wind slows. Sounds like a good solution to me.
