LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - On this day two years ago, Nebraska made sports history with “ Volleyball Day in Nebraska .”

A record-breaking 92,003 fans packed Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, setting a new world attendance record for a women’s sporting event.

The crowd beat the previous record set during a women’s soccer match in Spain.

The stadium was transformed from a football field to a volleyball court for the special event.

It was a landmark moment for Nebraska, and for women’s sports around the world.
