Classified workers at Evergreen Public Schools vowed to remain on strike into next week after rejecting the latest offer from the district.

In an email sent to nearly 1,400 bus drivers, paraeducators and other classified workers on Friday evening, the Public School Employees of Washington/SEIU Local 1948 slammed the district’s “final offer.”

“Classified employees will not vote to ratify a contract that falls short of meeting their needs and the needs of Evergreen students,” the union’s email said.

Evergreen Public Schools’ classified staff has been on strike since Tuesday , the first day of the school year.

The union’s contract with the district expired Saturday and it was unclear whether further negotiations would occur over the weekend. Members are allowed to work for one year afte
