Danville’s qualifying event for the Boston Marathon will be the first for Tevin Price.

The 32-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina, resident is not your typical athlete. He is one of two blind participants expected to compete in the Three Sisters Marathon taking place in Danville Sept. 6.

“It will be my first marathon,” Price said of the qualifying event that will shut down vehicle traffic along the 26-mile route in the River City that day. “I’m ready and I’ve chosen to come to Danville to do it.”

It will also be Danville’s first marathon.

Hundreds of runners from up and down the East Coast and from as far away as California and Washington state will descend upon Danville for the event. Participants will also come from Arizona, Texas and Chicago.
