FRANKFORT, Ky. (KFVS) - Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has ordered all flags at state office buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Sunday.
This is in observance of Overdose Awareness Day, which is held each year on Aug. 31, to raise awareness about drug overdoses and reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths, as well as acknowledge the grief felt by loved ones.
The Governor’s Mansion will also be lit purple, the color designated to show support for overdose awareness, the entire weekend.
