DENVER (KDVR) -- A motorcyclist who allegedly fled from an attempted traffic stop near East 7th Street and Boise Avenue in Loveland died Friday night after colliding with a SUV, Loveland police said Saturday.

The Loveland Police Department said the motorcyclist fled after the Larimer County Sheriff's office attempted to make a traffic stop just after 8 p.m. Friday, after observing the 37-year-old rider "traveling recklessly at a high rate of speed."

LPD said the LCSO deputies terminated the stop after they lost sight of the motorcycle and that, shortly after, LPD officers learned of a crash near Eisenhower Boulevard and Denver Avenue.

Upon arrival, LPD said patrol officers and deputies found the motorcycle matching the one that had fled earlier had collided with a "smaller" SUV.
