DELMAR, N.Y. — Section 2 field hockey power Bethlehem High edged visiting Rondout Valley 2-1 in a non-league game on Friday, Aug. 29.
After Bethlehem took a 1-0 lead on a second-quarter goal, Rondout Valley tied it at 1-1 on Ella Morse’s goal in the third quarter.
Finleigh McClain got the game-winner for the hosts in the fourth quarter.
Ganders goalie Sienna Sergio made five saves.
Rondout Valley had a 12-7 advantage on shots on goal and a 9-7 edge in corners.
Rondout Valley lost 4-0 to Bethlehem last season.
“We played a strong game against a very strong team,” Ganders coach Nanette Simione said. “I’m proud of how we played. This is the kind of game that challenges us and helps us find the things we need to work on for the season.”
