There has been a lot of hype surrounding Arch Manning leading into the 2025 college football season, and one bettor had a lot of faith in the Texas starting quarterback.
One Caesars Sportsbook bettor wagered a smooth $1 million dollars on the No. 1 Longhorns to beat No. 3 Ohio State, Yahoo Sports reported, and it’s the first reported seven-figure bet of the college football season. But it didn't quite work out when the Buckeyes won.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS AGAINST THE SPREAD: Week 1 features Ohio State-Texas, Clemson-LSU and more
The line for this game had been moving over all over the place, and Ohio State opened as a three-point favorite. But it swung to basically a pick-em with Texas being a one-point favorite. It was a low-scoring affair to start, so this bettor was definitely sweating because he had a chance to win a little more than $950.000.
It didn’t start off well for this Texas fan or anyone else who put cash on the Longhorns, as CJ Donaldson Jr broke the ice with his rushing touchdown.
Manning couldn’t get anything going, and when he did throw it, he was picked off.
The million-dollar bet saw any hope go up in smoke after a Carnell Tate’s wild 40-yard touchdown. Texas fans and the person who made that massive bet have definitely seen better days after Ohio State’s 14-7 win.
Tough way to start the college football season.
