ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York's polices around bail and redistricting have caught the attention of the Trump administration. President Trump signed an executive order to review states that "eliminated" bail -- states that had would lose federal funding.

This week on Empire State Weekly, Assemblyman Will Barclay, a republican who represents the 120th District and is the Assembly Minority Leader, explained that President's executive order will not likely impact New York. However, he said there is an effort to bring change to how bail works in the state.

"We're not against some bail reform, particularly how it affects lower level crimes but the problem was, really, you can't use bail only on the most serious crimes. And, again, as a result, we're seeing recidivism," said Barclay. "So we'
