OMAHA, Neb. —

Omaha police arrested a 33-year-old who allegedly assaulted an officer with a knife.

The incident happened on Thursday around 10:45 p.m. in the area of Park Avenue and Shirley Street.

The officer responded to a report of a man with a knife.

According to the Omaha Police Department, she exited her cruiser, and the suspect lunged at her and cut her hand.

He then led the officer in a foot pursuit, but she was able to use her taser to take him into custody without further incident.

She was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.

The man was arrested for resisting arrest, assault of an officer, and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
