HONOLULU (Island News) -- Hawaii is heading into Labor Day weekend with calm, dry, and mostly sunny weather. A strong high-pressure system sitting above the state is keeping the skies stable and quiet. Trade winds will stay light to moderate, and most of the islands won’t see much rain.

Some low clouds are floating in with the trades, but they’re not producing much rain—just a few light showers, mostly along the mountains and windward areas. Rain totals will be small, with most spots staying dry. A few areas on the Big Island and Kauai might see a little more rain than others, especially in the afternoons.

Looking ahead to Sunday and Monday, there’s a chance of some tropical moisture brushing the Big Island. If that happens, more showers could pop up along the Kona and Kau slopes in the
