A young boy has died after falling out of a window, D.C. police say.

It happened near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and 4th Street Northwest around 2 p.m., according to police.

The entire section of 4th street is closed off for the death investigation.

When police got to the scene, they discovered the child outside the building on the ground.

News4 was told it was a very high fall.

News4 is not yet sure how old the child was and what led to him falling out of the window.

Throughout the afternoon, investigators have been seen walking throughout the street and looking up at the building.
