Myrna Selzler ran head first into her heritage while walking the virtual streets of Ukraine on Saturday.
Even though she grew up in Alberta with its prominent Ukrainian presence, she never connected with her family’s past — until Saturday. And it was unintentional.
The West Kelowna woman set out to learn more about the Ukrainian war and attended a virtual pop-up, War Up Close museum at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church parish hall in Kelowna that chronicled the devastation, the death, the despair inflicted on Ukraine since Russia invaded Feb. 24, 2022.
By adapting Google Street View technology, the War Up Close founders created immersive panoramas that let people step virtually into bombed neighbourhoods, schools, and museums.
