BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Southern University quarterback Jalen Woods was slow to get up after a big hit during the matchup against Mississippi Valley State University on Saturday.

In the second quarter, Woods was sliding when a defender hit him. After the hit, Woods was carted off via ambulance and taken to a local hospital to be checked out. As he was being put into the ambulance, Woods was able to give a thumbs-up.

According to the commentators of the game, officials said Wood's slide came too late, which is why a flag was not thrown on the play.

No further details were immediately available.
