IU's bison mascot has made its appearance, flying in by parachute into Memorial Stadium.
Former Indiana football coach Lee Corso put on his final mascot head on ESPN's "College GameDay" on Saturday morning, and a few hours later the Hoosiers unveiled Hoosier the Bison mascot as it flew into the stadium by parachute.
The 90-year-old Corso's return to Bloomington for "College GameDay's" first visit to IU and no mascot head to wear was, in part, a motivating factor for Indiana Athletics administrators to lean into an additional layer of brand recognition . The result was a public unveiling after a not-so-subdued monthslong build-up to the physical mascot behind the north end zone of Memorial Stadium.
