AMSTERDAM — Just when it seemed one side was ready to pull away, their opponent came back with a vengeance. For both squads, their back-and-forth affair served as a clear reminder that it’s the dawn of a new season, one where there are no certainties.

The Amsterdam and Schenectady boys’ soccer teams battled tooth and nail in their Saturday matinee to the tune of a 2-2 tie at W.H. Lynch Literacy Academy. Amsterdam, which dropped its season-opener on Tuesday at Schalmont, was able to open up a two-goal lead through the first 20 minutes back on its home turf. However, Schenectady dug its heels in and potted two unanswered goals before intermission.
