BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A mission to clean up Baton Rouge has become a movement. On Saturday, August 30, Keep Tiger Town Beautiful and The Grove Recovery Center teamed up to pick up trash, but also help those experiencing homelessness. Trevor Thompson with the Grove recovery center says a lot of these volunteers were once in very similar shoes - on the streets, struggling with addiction. They have been doing it in smaller groups for a couple of months. Thompson says they have gotten about 45 people off the streets in the last two and a half months.
The initiative is being pushed around the parish by Mayor-President Sid Edwards and St. George Mayor Dustin Yates. They both emphasized their intentions to keep the collaboration going to save lives, clean up the parish, and create a better c
