After Florida State upset Alabama football to start the 2025 season on Saturday, Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl had some fun at the Tide’s expense.

Pearl posted a graphic on X (formerly Twitter) of Florida State offensive coordinator and former Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn running over an elephant in a vehicle labeled the “Gus Bus.”

The “Gus Bus” term was used often while Malzahn was at Auburn. Pearl and Malzahn spent time as coaches together on the Plains from 2014-2020.

Florida State’s win over Alabama was Malzahn’s sixth victory against the Crimson Tide as either an offensive coordinator or a head coach. It was also Alabama’s first loss in a season opener since 2001.
