TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Ty Simpson has finished his first game as Alabama football's starting quarterback, one that ended a streak the Crimson Tide had held since 2001.
Simpson led Alabama to a 31-17 loss to Florida State in its 2025 season opener, the Crimson Tide's first non-conference season-opening loss since it opened 2001 with a loss to UCLA.

In his first game as Alabama's starter, Simpson completed 23 of his 43 pass attempts for 254 yards and two touchdown passes to Rico Scott and Josh Cuevas.

Simpson's favorite target was Germie Bernard, who brought in eight catches on 14 targets for 146 receiving yards.
