The LSU football joined the group of Louisiana teams who have paid tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in its 20th anniversary this weekend. On Saturday night against No. 4 Clemson , No. 9 LSU wore a decal on the back of its helmets that read "20th Hurricane Katrina Anniversary."
ESPN's Chris Fowler mentioned the role Baton Rouge played as a safe haven and sheltering place for Katrina evacuees in 2005 from New Orleans on the broadcast.
LSU joined Tulane, who also had plans to honor the Katrina victims on Saturday.
Tulane originally planned to wear white jerseys against Northwestern on Saturday, like the program did in the first game after Katrina in 2005, but Northwestern denied the request.
After the Green Wave came out, in green jerseys, and defeated Northwestern 23-3,
