The 49th annual Labor Day Liftoff hot air balloon festival kicked off in Colorado Springs early Saturday morning.

It was a breezy morning, and Saturday's launch from Memorial was canceled due to weather. The Wings of Blue skydiving demonstration went on as planned at 9 a.m.

Saturday night's Balloon Glo, set for 7 p.m. tonight, has been canceled. Organizers said on social media that lightning is within range; attendees have been asked to evacuate the park and move to the nearest shelter. Organizers said evening events will resume once the storm passes over. A concert and drone show are still planned.
