Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Lee Roy Jordan has died at the age of 84 , the Cowboys announced on Saturday.

"It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Lee Roy Jordan," the team said on social media. "Our hearts go out to Lee Roy's family, friends and loved ones."

Jordan was with the Cowboys for 14 years and played in three Super Bowls, helping lead the team to their first Super Bowl win in 1972. He was the first Dallas Cowboy inducted into the Ring of Honor by Jerry Jones in 1989.

"With fearless instincts, leadership and a relentless work ethic, Jordan was the embodiment of the Cowboys spirit," the team said. "His legacy lives on as a model of dedication, integrity and toughness."
