Florida football sophomore starting quarterback D.J. Lagway threw for three TD passes and crossed the 2,000-yard career mark during UF's 55-0 win over Long Island University on August 30 at The Swamp.
But the 6-foot-3, 247-pound Lagway wasn't completely satisfied with his performance against the Sharks. Lagway went 15 for 18 for 120 yards and 3 TDs for the Florida Gators , but averaged just 8 yards per completion and was sacked on his first offensive play. He overthrew open freshman wide receiver Vernell Brown III on one incompletion and needed a miraculous, leaping one-handed by Brown to complete a 41-yard pass downfield in the second quarter.
"I know I need to play better than that and I'm going to play better than that and I'm just thankful you always get another week," Lagway said
