UK households risk losing £3,000 a year due to the "unsustainable" Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) benefits system, it is feared. DWP welfare and benefits paymentsare on course to cost individual taxpayers £3,000 a year by the end of the decade.
It comes as Britain’s benefits system becomes “unsustainable”, a think tank has warned. Onward has warned the DWP benefits bill could balloon by an eye-watering FIFTH by 2030, according to a report by Onward.
The think tank said that government spending had become “uncontrollable". It cited one of the main reasons as the Labour Party government uprating Universal Credit , PIP and more in line with inflation.
