A former Royal butler was stunned by a choice King Charles made upon becoming monarch. Grant Harrold served the King for seven years at Highgrove House, his Gloucestershire country estate.
Harrold described the position as an "absolute dream come true". He characterises the 76-year-old sovereign as a "very gentle character" who "didn't once raise his voice" throughout his tenure at Highgrove.
Harrold, who has since built a career as an etiquette specialist, was made redundant in 2011 as arrangements were being finalised for Charles's eventual coronation. He recalls a particularly moving conversation with Charles regarding his future role as monarch.
