WISE, Va. — The Health Wagon on Friday announced plans for the first phase of a veterinary clinic and outreach center in Wise County.

The project will be initially funded by a $1.88 million Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization (AMLER) grant.

Last week Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced the project was one of five in Southwest Virginia that would divide over $6 million in awards.

“Southwest Virginia’s strength comes from its people and its ability to adapt,” Youngkin said in a statement. “By transforming lands impacted by mining into new opportunities, the AMLER program is helping to create jobs, attract visitors, and build infrastructure that ensures our coalfield communities contribute to and benefit from Virginia’s economic growth.”
