The Community Safety and Well-Being Planning (CSWBP) Grey Bruce organization is encouraging residents to participate in International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) today.
The CSWBP says Aug. 31 is recognized globally as IOAD to remember those who have died from drug poisoning without stigma, and acknowledge the grief of those who have lost loved ones to drugs.
For IOAD, residents are invited to create purple window displays to show support and raise awareness.
Additionally, a come-and-go event will be held at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to remember those lost to drug poisoning.
There will also be prevention resources including Naloxone, which temporarily reverses the effects of an opioid overdose.
