The Powerball jackpot rose to historic highs ahead of the drawing on Saturday, Aug. 30, coming in at $1 billion after no one cashed the top prize on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

The Aug. 30 drawing offered a one-time cash payment of $453.1 million to anyone who matched all five numbers and the Powerball.

The estimated $1 billion prize on Aug. 30 marked the sixth-largest Powerball jackpot of all time , beating out the $842 million winner that was drawn back on Jan. 1, 2024, when one lucky person in Michigan took the prize.
