A woman in her 40s tragically lost her life when a large tree branch fell on her in West Didsbury, Manchester. The incident occurred on Barlow Moor Road this past weekend, specifically on Saturday evening around 7.15pm. Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene, but despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the location.

Witnesses described the shocking moment when the branch "snapped" and fell. A staff member from a nearby petrol station recounted, "The tree just snapped, it was a big branch and just fell. A woman was walking underneath. The weather was a bit windy but not strong."

Local residents rushed to assist, with some being medical professionals who attempted to provide aid until the ambulance arrived. The fallen branches blocked the road, prompting police to close off the area. The witness added, "It was two or three thick branches that fell at once."

Councillor Richard Kilpatrick, a Liberal Democrat representative for Didsbury West, expressed his condolences, stating, "It is a really awful and tragic situation and the worst possible timing for someone to be under there." The incident has left the local community in shock, mourning the loss of a life in such an unexpected manner.
