One of Scotland's largest solar farms is approaching completion in Glasgow .

The huge green energy scheme covers an area equivalent to 83 football pitches on green belt land in Glasgow North , close to the Union Canal and Possil Marsh. The project is being delivered by Caledonian Properties, which controls a vast stretch of green belt territory north of the city.

Canal towpath users in recent months have witnessed daily construction activity at the location, which remains hidden behind towering hedgerows. It will mark the first ground-mounted solar farm within the city limits. The solar farm will generate sufficient electricity for the grid to power approximately 6,300 households, reports the Scottish Daily Express .
