FORT WORTH, Texas — A train derailed in southwest Fort Worth on Sunday, according to officials.

The Fort Worth Fire Department confirmed to WFAA that several cars had derailed in the 4700 block of West Vickery Boulevard. Three of the cars had product on them and two were leaking carbon dioxide, FWFD said.

"I jumped up and kind of looked over," said McKenzie Smith, who lives near the tracks. "I could probably see eight train cars turned over, then the billow of smoke."

Smith said she could see cars tip over from her backyard.

A spokesperson with Union Pacific said that around 10:30 a.m., "approximately twelve train cars derailed in Union Pacific's Davidson Yard in Ft Worth." They went on to say that "the incident is under investigation."
