EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A 29-year-old man with an extensive criminal history was arrested for homicide in El Cajon on Saturday evening, authorities said.
According to the El Cajon Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in an apartment complex parking lot on the 900 block of South Sunshine Avenue where two men were in an altercation.
During the altercation, one of the males stabbed the other. Officers said the 59-year-old victim from El Cajon was transported to the hospital with severe injury, where he later died. His identity is not being released by police.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Steve Matthew from La Mesa, was located and arrested on scene, police said. His extensive criminal history includes firearm charges and assault with a deadly weapon.
