SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) - One person is dead after a paraglider fell from the sky.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a call came in just after 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning of a paraglider crash off of US 53 near Earl Thomas Conley Park in West Portsmouth.

Witnesses told the OSHP that the glider was flying over a field near the Ohio River when it fell from the sky.

The pilot, Timothy Williams, 35, of Byron, Georgia was fatally injured in the crash, according to the OSHP.

The crash is still under investigation.

Other agencies on scene included the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Portsmouth Ambulance and the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department.
